Prosecutor John Watson said Buffy, the nickname of a girl who was 16 at the time of the killing, should be sentenced as an adult for her role in the violent rape and murder of 13-year-old Nina.
Defence lawyer Peter Royal said the teen should be sentenced as a youth because she did not directly contribute to Nina's death or coerce her from West Edmonton Mall to the golf course.
The one stab wound Buffy did inflict was deep, but not life-threatening, Royal said. [Emphasis added]
UPDATE: (June 17) Buffy gets a break.
