Asbestos: killing for profit

We continue exporting this poison: workers continue to die.

The unholy alliance that promotes the carcinogen begins with Stephen Harper. It includes politicians of various hues, a powerful pro-asbestos lobby, even a Quebec union central.

And we continue to export 200,000 tonnes of asbestos to the Third World every year, with catastrophic consequences.

A Health Canada-commissioned report condemning the mineral was suppressed by Harper's office. We have torpedoed international action on the issue.

Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff flipped and flopped, but finally took a position, which in itself is remarkable. But for now the killing continues.
