I haven't been as bloggy as late, and that's because I've been desperately trying to wrap up stuff and meet deadlines, getting ready for tomorrow, when I drop off the map for three weeks.
If I can - if the stars line up and technology obliges - I will try to forward some images from the quest to Stageleft. Otherwise - see you in a month!
And to assuage the aching sense of loss you are no doubt experiencing as you contemplate the prospect of four balbless weeks - here's the second Stageleft Famous Farewells Quiz.
a) This second hit single for the artist, released from her second album, credited to two of the top songwriters of the 20th century (who also wrote the song "Two of Us", reached number two on the Billboard charts. What was the song?
b) The last words of the Ross Ice Shelf hero commemorated by Split Enz.
c) It played during the closing credits of the only film ever to feature Peter Sellers, George C. Scott, Peter Sellers, Sterling Hayden, Peter Sellers, and James Earl Jones.
e) Trigger and Bullet used to edge up to the campfire and listen to their masters sing...what?
f) The last song on the second album by a larval Stealer's Wheeler and the Big Yin.
g) And after "Tarantara..."?
h) The best known waltz of the civil war - except it was written more than a century later.
Well, that was fun. I have to pack. But the first person to get the correct answers - all of them - will win a copy of one of my Very Favourite Books - the invaluatble Brewer's Dictionary of Phrase and Fable, to be awarded when I get back.
Love y'all. Keep the faith.
